I live on a sprawling 60 acre property in Margaret River with my husband Jason and our teenage children Ethan and Lola. Schnauzers are definitely a family affair on the farm. We deeply care for each of our mothers and fathers to ensure they live the best lives possible. This includes selecting healthy parents with great temperaments, proper socialisation, daily care and cuddles and ultimately placing our puppies with caring individuals or families. Our goal at SoMR is to provide a truly positive experience for our puppies and their new owners.
My journey in Dog Breeding
We bought our first mini schnauzer STELLA for our son Ethans first birthday after extensive research into different dog breeds (and I had grown up in country NSW with a giant Schnauzer which I adored). Stella was a god send and did every nap, every Tomas the tank engine episode and caught every dropped snack. Along came Lola two years later and once the kids started fighting over who stella would sleep with I decided it was time for a second.
I convinced my husband by saying I would do a litter to justify the purchase (and get it over the line). I contacted a breeder for help and along cane DEMI from NZ. fast forward to my first litter and I was hooked! Hours and days lost in cuddling, playing and watching tiny little wriggly sausages turn into confident playful bundles of joy. Many years later I quit my job as a remedial massage therapist and now spend all my days with the schnauzers and still pinch myself that this is my life.
Ethical breeding has always been at the heart of what I do. I learned early the importance of high standards. I take my job seriously, continuously and relentlessly vetting the genetic makeup of our mothers and fathers to make sure I am not setting an individual or family up for lifelong health or temperament issues.
Building lasting connections
At Schnauzers of Margaret river we have available litters 3-4 times a year. I make it a priority to get to know my puppies new owners, often before the puppies are even born. This helps to ensure that our puppies go to loving homes were they will be truly loved and cherished.
